System Requirements

Mapster was written using the wxWindows GUI toolkit. As such, I've been able to get it compiled for linux, windows, and Mac OS X.

If you want to compile Mapster on a linux platform, you need to have the wxWindows library and development files installed. Don't worry, wxWindows is totally free. (Note for those interested in details: originally I programmed Mapster using the Qt GUI toolkit, which is good, but I think wxWindows is better in a number of ways: (1) it's more free, (2) it has features that Qt doesn't have, and (3) Qt seemed to have some bugs.)

So from the download page you can get a windows 95/98/etc. executable, or the source code for compiling on linux.
